Tachara
Oil on wood, 29 in x 50 in x 14 in
For 2 1/2 months, it was an honour to capture the essence of this ancient, sacred structure of “Tachara”, in the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Persepolis, Iran (550-330 BC) for a private commission. My intention was to infuse the piece with the love and power it evokes while standing in front of such a magnificent structure. l was conscious of the music I was listening to while building and painting in my studio to keep my consciousness high and in the state of harmony; infusing it with the vibration of Reiki. It was a joy to learn about the history of the Persian Empire and Darius the Great and his acceptance of other cultures during his reign. After a very emotionally uncertain year, it was a gift to focus on this artwork to anchor in the hope, and light we dream of for the future. Thank you to Meti, for asking me to create this piece for you.
“Seven years ago, I walked into Heather’s studio and was beyond astonished by her talent. In that moment, I knew I wanted one of her masterpieces hanging in my living room someday. Fast forward to this year, I asked Heather to build me the Persepolis. Why? Because: 1. It’s a historical landmark close to my birthplace so it holds emotional value and 2. I dreamt of having one of Heather’s custom pieces in my living room from the moment I first met her. I never gave up on imagining this dream becoming a reality and seven years later, here it is. Thank you Heather Kocsis for this phenomenal, one of a kind masterpiece.”- Meti Basiri
